Traction Update | New Clinic Location in the Heart of Downtown Hampton

It's been a while since I've posted on the blog. Big things have been happening at Traction Pain Relief & Wellness. I am so grateful for everyone who has trusted me with their care - whether it is just asking questions, coming to a workshop or working through a program with me. It truly is my passion and my goal to help people get back to living the life they love without relying on pain medications and injections or even being told "Just don't do that anymore".

For those that don't know, as of January 1st we opened a new clinic location in the heart of Downtown Hampton! The new space has allowed for more scheduling flexibility and the opportunity for more workshops to share FREE education. Check out this video for a quick tour of the clinic.

You may notice that the Traction Clinic is different than a traditional physical therapy clinic. We don't have a lot of machines or a large gym area where you are with several other patients. We spend 1:1 time with you to find the root cause of what brought you into the clinic, how we can address the issue and how we can help you make your body resilient so you can stay healthy and pain free for the long term.

The first phase in any therapy program at Traction Pain Relief & Wellness is pain reduction. That is followed by movement re-education. During these two phases we help you use your own body to heal and teach you how to move well. The final phase in our therapy programs is resiliency training. This is when we incorporate some form of strength training to help you build up resiliency to movement and/or return to your sport so that your problem doesn't return and you decrease your future risk of injury. Our goal is always to get you back to the activities that you love and enjoy, whether that's playing with your kids, taking a walk with your dog or completing a competitive workout in the gym, without limitations.

I never imagined that this is what Traction Pain Relief & Wellness would grow to. I am so excited that I get to help people live their best life.

We have a few openings for a free total body diagnostic where we could get you in to spend a little bit more time with us, and see exactly what the problem is and we can give you a path for how we can help you.

Feeling Overwhelmed?

Welcome to my "dump room"  😳  Go ahead, judge...now keep reading. This room used to be my home office. When I opened my Downtown Hampton clinic location in January it morphed into the "dump rom" - the room where everything gets dumped if I don't want to deal with it in the moment, but it's in the way.  The door to this room stays CLOSED! Over the past few months I would open it from time to time intending to take care of it, but the overwhelm of it all called the door shut again.  This morning I set my timer and I chunked it down. Voila! The thing that has overwhelmed me for 3+ months is now a source of joy in a matter of 60 minutes  🤯 What does your overwhelm look like? Maybe it's not a room in your house. Maybe it's the food in your pantry/fridge. Maybe it's the vision you see in the mirror. Maybe it's the lies and stories you fill your heart and head with.  I want to share with you some tactical advise for tackling the overwhel...

5 Tips to Keeping Food Healthy & Fun

There is often a misconception that “healthy” food doesn’t taste good/is boring and honestly, that misconception is probably based on some truly terrible food experiences that carry the term “health food”.  I’m here to tell you though, there is absolutely no reason why your fruits, vegetables, lower carb, lower fat, higher protein, higher fiber, etc. food shouldn’t taste just as amazing as all the other food choices out there.  Because let's be real for a minute, if it doesn’t taste good who the heck is going to choose to eat it more than once or twice? I’m going to share a few of my tips and tricks for how to keep your foods tasting 100% edible for all members of your family without breaking your budget or adding tons of extra calories to your meal. Hot Sauce is king. Y’all, it can be added to eggs, meat, and vegetables for so much added flavor!  It can be added before, during, or after cooking and guess what, there are so many dang hot sauce options out there that they...
