Interview with Shawna Moffitt of Bodyworks Massage, LLC in Hampton, VA

Today's post is a feature of a local massage therapist in Hampton, VA. Recently I was able to meet with Shawna Moffitt from Bodyworks Massage, LLC. Shawna's massage studio is located in downtown Hampton on West Queens Way among local businesses and urban restaurants.

Shawna is originally from Colombus, Ohio and has been a Certified Massage Practitioner for 10 years. She moved to Hampton about 2 years ago for a slower pace of life and to be closer to the water.

Upon entering the Bodyworks Massage, LLC studio I was promptly greeted by Reyna, Shawna's adorable Chihuahua. The studio offers a relaxing environment with an intimate treatment setting including soft music and low lighting. Shawna's treatment table is located on the other side of a divider from her desk to ensure privacy of her clients.

During our time together we made the short walk through downtown Hampton from her studio to Glazed Doughnuts for coffee. I connected immediately with Shawna as she clearly has a passion similar to mine for helping individuals feel their best and live their best life free from reliance on pain medications and surgeries. Shawna's approach to massage is very individualized and focused on empowering her clients.

She believes that every individual should be treated according to their specific needs. Shawna incorporates various modalities of massage such as swedish massage, Myofascial Release, Neuromuscular Therapy, and Energy Work to meet those individual needs. She also is a huge advocate for client education and participation in their own powerful self-healing process.

Shawna has clients across a range of ages and physical needs. She works with business men and women who just need to relax from the stress of the day or reset their body's from long hours sitting at a desk. She also treats clients who want to stay mobile and pain free in their day to day life. Heavy lifting athletes have even recommended her services to improve their recovery and performance.

There aren't many people that I can think of that wouldn't benefit from the services that Shawna has to offer. Plus, Shawna has an energy that is contagious! I've already planned a time to get a massage from her myself and I will definitely be using her as a resource for sustained health and wellness with my clients at Traction Pain Relief & Wellness!

Feeling Overwhelmed?

Welcome to my "dump room"  😳  Go ahead, judge...now keep reading. This room used to be my home office. When I opened my Downtown Hampton clinic location in January it morphed into the "dump rom" - the room where everything gets dumped if I don't want to deal with it in the moment, but it's in the way.  The door to this room stays CLOSED! Over the past few months I would open it from time to time intending to take care of it, but the overwhelm of it all called the door shut again.  This morning I set my timer and I chunked it down. Voila! The thing that has overwhelmed me for 3+ months is now a source of joy in a matter of 60 minutes  🤯 What does your overwhelm look like? Maybe it's not a room in your house. Maybe it's the food in your pantry/fridge. Maybe it's the vision you see in the mirror. Maybe it's the lies and stories you fill your heart and head with.  I want to share with you some tactical advise for tackling the overwhel...

There is often a misconception that “healthy” food doesn’t taste good/is boring and honestly, that misconception is probably based on some truly terrible food experiences that carry the term “health food”.  I’m here to tell you though, there is absolutely no reason why your fruits, vegetables, lower carb, lower fat, higher protein, higher fiber, etc. food shouldn’t taste just as amazing as all the other food choices out there.  Because let's be real for a minute, if it doesn’t taste good who the heck is going to choose to eat it more than once or twice? I’m going to share a few of my tips and tricks for how to keep your foods tasting 100% edible for all members of your family without breaking your budget or adding tons of extra calories to your meal. Hot Sauce is king. Y’all, it can be added to eggs, meat, and vegetables for so much added flavor!  It can be added before, during, or after cooking and guess what, there are so many dang hot sauce options out there that they...
